JAPANDI WALL ART COLLECTION

Japanese inspired wall art pieces with all original ink illustrations by Michael de la Guerra.

The Last Time I Saw My Friend Walker He Was Getting Ready To Travel To Japan

He made it back, but I never got to see him before he passed away. Walker loved Japanese culture, in a way I was almost jealous of; he was the most knowledgeable person I knew on the subject.

One thing I do know a bit about, however, is how the Japanese and their take on simplicity influenced minimalism as a design concept. Since I find myself producing more art from a minimalist angle these days, and with the surge of interest in the "Japandi" design trend which is a merging of Japanese and Scandinavian approaches, I decided to put together my own homage to the Japanese style.

I was like a kid in a candy store when I started on this short series. I forgot how much I loved the vintage Japanese ink techniques, and I thought of Walker throughout the entire creative process, therefore these pieces are dedicated to his memory.
